What really killed some Model 94 values in a hurry was the swiss cheese effect from adding 4 holes in the receiver for a side mounted scope base. Over the short term it will be much more shootable and enjoyable, and over the long term any devaluation of the carbine will be a wash when you consider the added value of the sight. Ironically enough, I argue that same thing and have done so in this same forum regarding the 1964-1981 era pre-angle eject Model 94 carbines, and to a lesser extent the 1982 to 1991 pre-cross bolt or tang safety angle eject carbines.īut my point was that unless it's in pristine condition, adding a single hole on the tang for a tang sight, if properly done, is not going to appreciably decrease the value of the firearm any more than will be the case with normal use and a could decades of shooting it.
